'Leave immediately': Queensland residents evacuate as firefighters tackle large blaze

A large and fast-moving fire is threatening a community in Queensland's Gladstone region where residents have been told to leave immediately.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) has issued an emergency warning for Oyster Creek near Agnes Water.
The emergency warning covers properties between Uxbridge Road, Oyster Creek Road, Muller Road and Coast Road (including Kirchner Road).
Residents can keep up to date with the latest warnings on the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services website.

The fire is burning between Oyster Creek Road and Muller Road.
"It is expected to impact Oyster Creek Road and Kirchner Road within the next hour," QFES said.
"Leave immediately. Your life could be at risk. It will soon be too dangerous to drive."
A watch and act alert remains in place for the Deepwater region near Agnes Water.
Residents who evacuated from the area have been told it is not safe to return yet.
"Firefighters are working to contain the fire. Firefighting aircraft are helping ground crews," QFES said.
Smoke haze is impacting large parts of the state's south-east and is expected to peak tonight.
This has prompted health warnings for people including pregnant women, children and people who experience respiratory distress.
